SUGAR INDUSTRY
This part of the Museum mainly aims at presenting the history of Czech sugar production since its very beginnings. You will be able to admire various types of sugar loaves, lump sugar, “kubesy” (old-type lump sugar), as well as a huge, 1-m to a side sugar cube. You will learn about molasses or black syrup and “meet” important personalities of this industry. We will also let you have a peek into a sugar laboratory with a 5-kg sucrose crystal – at present, the largest one in the Czech Republic. All this and much more is to be seen in a 16th century Renaissance granary building. Large equipment and machinery used in sugar factories are displayed in other buildings, formerly a barn and a cow byre, respectively.
